Australian Open fan sparks social media buzz with hot dog performance

An Australian Open fan has been caught on film doing what could be called a criminal act.

Sitting high in the stands as the action unfolded on the court below, the user took a picture of a man with a hot dog in his hand.

But what unfolds next is truly confusing.

First, there is not a drop of sauce on the hot dog. This is crime number one.

Secondly, the tennis player, instead of biting into a hot dog without sauce and a bun, uses her hands and bites off a tiny portion. This is crime number two.

To be honest, we don’t exactly know which crime is worse, all we know is that both should be punishable.

The video was uploaded to Twitter by media personality Josh Harlepp and has received over 36,000 views.

Social media users could not believe what was happening before their eyes.

“The biggest crime here is that there is no sauce or mustard,” wrote one in response.

“Oh my god, that look makes me sick. Pour sauce or mustard over it, for God’s sake,” added another.

However, one user felt that this action was perfectly normal, stating, “This action precedes normal eating behavior and ensures the exact driftwood/bun ratio. Any other conclusion is an oversight.”

It’s not the first time that fans’ performance with food at Grand Slams has taken the internet by storm, with Alexa Greenfield leaving fans in disgust at the US Open four years ago.

Greenfield caused a stir on social media when she was caught dipping chicken fingers into a cup of soft drink in front of her nephews at Flushing Meadows.

Debauchery dropped during the Madison Keys 6-1 6-3 defeat of Dominika Cibulkova at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Twittersphere was relentless and beat the poor woman mercilessly. However, Greenfield offered her protection, stating that the combination was quite tasty… and that she had a hangover.
