Army Investigates Elite Skydiver’s Death From Injuries While Jumping In Florida

The Army launched an investigation after a member of the Golden Knights parachute team died from injuries sustained during a training jump.

Army officials identified the parachutist like a sergeant. Michael Ty Kettenhoven, 1st Class, joined the US Army Golden Knights in 2020. He jumped over 1000 times in the army.

Sergeant Kettenhofen jumped on Monday, made a “hard landing” and died of his injuries on Tuesday, officials said.

“The US Army parachute team is deeply saddened by the loss of one of ours. Sergeant 1st Class Ty Kettenhoven was loved, admired and respected by all who knew him for his sense of humour, joy in life and achievements as a senior non-commissioned officer and parachutist demonstration,” said Lieutenant Colonel Andy Moffitt, commander of the Golden Knights parachute group. “Our hearts and faith are with his family and friends as we mourn and heal with them. Tai will be honored and remembered as a Golden Knight, soldier and friend.”

In early March, CBS News Miami aired a segment of Kettenhofen and the Golden Knights, where their videos went viral after the parachute team was declared unidentified flying objects.

The Golden Knights travel all over the world to demonstrate their sophisticated and sophisticated parachute training. According to the army, the “Golden Knights” earned over 3800 medals in competitions, and also set 348 world records.
