Average gas prices are 18 cents lower than last year during this week. The national average for 2022 during the week of December 25 through December 31 is currently at $3.10 according to AAA.

In the AAA report, they cite recent data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA). According to that data, the demand for gas due to holiday season travel could cause the lower prices to slow through the end of the year. However, prices are expected to continue their downward trajectory as winter weather becomes more prevalent.
