A man is accused of sexually assaulting a missing teenager at an East Bexar County home, deputies said.

SAN ANTONIO A 47-year-old man was charged with sexually assaulting a teenager who ran away from his home in East Bexar County, deputies said.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office announced Malcolm Barge’s arrest on Tuesday and released a video of him in custody.

In January, deputies responded to Barge’s Park Lake Drive home in an attempt to find a missing 16-year-old. In the house, the police found the girl and arrested Barge on charges of harboring a fugitive.

The arrest warrant statement says Barge claimed he did not know the girl was underage. According to investigators, he refused to provide additional information.

According to the BCSO, during the investigation, MPs learned that Barge repeatedly raped the girl.

Investigators also found text messages of a sexual nature between Barge and the girl, the affidavit says.

On Tuesday, a child sexual abuse warrant was issued and he was taken into custody without incident.

His bail is set at $50,000.

“The BCSO wants to remind the public that the predators of sexual assault are cheating and looking for every opportunity to take advantage of those who are vulnerable,” the Facebook post said.
