7-foot domestic alligator was taken away from his home in Texas

BUDA, Texas – Texas gamekeepers and zookeepers caught and pulled a 7-foot alligator from a home in Texas. The woman raised him as a pet.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, a neighbor of a “pet” owner in Buda, Texas reported an illegal animal. A Texas gamekeeper and 2 zookeepers captured the cheeky creature and handed it over to Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo.

“Alligators are bad pets, y’all,” the guardians wrote on Facebook, with a video of the three struggling to get the alligator into a trailer for transportation.

It turns out that the alligator was not touched, but he returned home. A woman adopted an alligator from a zoo over 20 years ago.

“The interesting part of this story is that they were obviously volunteers here, in fact, at Animal World and Snake Farm decades ago,” the zoo employee explained in a Facebook post.

“And apparently he stole this alligator, an egg or a newborn alligator, put it in his pocket, took it off and actually kept it as a pet for at least 20 years,” she continued. .

The owner of the house has been raising a toothy pet in her backyard for 2 decades. The deadly pet has grown to over 7 feet in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, under Texas law, “no one may take, sell, buy, or possess an alligator, an alligator’s egg, or any part of an alligator without permission.”

“Once Texas Wildlife found out he had it and couldn’t meet the requirements for that permit, they started looking for someone who could get it,” the zoo official explained. “And if so, technically, we are the legal owners of this alligator. We were their first phone call.”

Zoo staff said they introduced the returned female alligator to the rest of her new roommates, and she seems to have settled in. She will live there for the rest of her life.

Although the zoo is open to visitors, it is unknown if the Texan woman will be allowed to visit her former pet.
