Feb. 14 (UPI) — A 44-year-old man who was hit by a U-Haul as it swept through the streets of Brooklyn on Monday has died.

According to Chief of Detectives James Essig, Sor faces one charge of second-degree murder and seven charges of attempted murder of seven other victims he hit during his rampage.

Essig detailed the series of events that led to Monday’s chaos. Sor, who lives with his mother in Las Vegas, traveled to West Palm Beach, Florida on February 1, where he rented a U-Haul truck. On February 4, he was pulled over in South Carolina and charged with reckless driving and marijuana possession.

According to Essig, on February 6, Sor arrived at the home of his ex-wife and son. He returned on February 8 to take a shower and had an argument with his son. He was in New Jersey on Sunday and returned to Brooklyn on Monday.

Essig said Sor is believed not to be taking the medication he uses to treat mental illness and is going through a mental health crisis.

According to Sewell, the police managed to surround Sora after he was driving recklessly, injuring eight people within an hour, including cyclists, motorists and a police officer.

“He states that when he is driving his van, he sees an invisible object approaching the car, at which point he says, ‘I’ve had enough,’ and goes on a rampage,” Essig said. “He told the police when he was arrested, ‘You should have shot me.’
